With the Main Stream Media blackout of SOPA and PIPA, it's kind of difficult to understand what the basics of this law mean. When you understand just what it entails, it becomes a lot scarier and you realize why the MSM isn't covering it.

The basics of SOPA and PIPA proclaim that anyone who links to copyrighted material can have their site shut down, and the poster and the people running the site can serve up to five years in jail! Still not making sense? Imagine this.

You post an AMV you've created on Youtube, and you use a song by Linkin Park. Regardless of Linkin Park sucking or being awesome, now the RIAA can use the government to throw you in jail and also close Youtube forever for every one.

So, you don't make AMVs or your own content? Well, even if you post a link on Facebook, a forum, this site, or a website like Digg or Reddit, those sites are getting shut down and you're going to jail with the people who run the site.

I wish I was exaggerating, but this is the kind of power that is in the bill. It needs to be stopped.
